A standout French 19th century faux bamboo bedside table / accent piece, beautifully carved pine with a marble top. It features a single drawer above a single door cabinet. All standing on a plinth base with raised feet.
Faux bamboo, or artificial bamboo, became popular around 1900. Its popularity stemmed from the fact that bamboo wasn't found in mainland Europe.
In good solid and sturdy condition, with general wear, marks, knocks, commensurate with age and use. There are some scuffs and stains to the marble, and also some historic wood worm holes to the plinth bottom right. The handle has a chip to the underside see last picture. The internal areas show some signs of wear but has been cleaned. Overall a super stylish cabinet that would add interest to any home
